Wake up, America! It’s war time in America. We’ve been fed hateful rhetoric for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’ve fortified walls, when we should have been building bridges. People are dying on American soil. There are abuses of power everywhere. If you haven’t turned on the news lately, it’s us. We’re the news. The spotlight’s on us, because there are dark forces at work here, and the world is shining a light on it. We have to expose it. We have to “name it to tame it”. The fear. The prejudice. The hate. Whatever keeps making this happen. Whatever is keeping us all from being enraged. Whatever is keeping us from reaching across the line, to see the human on the other side. We have to own it and make a change. Because the biggest delusion is thinking it doesn’t exist, and our biggest mistake is thinking that we don’t have to pick a side. It is no longer enough to not be racist. We have to be vocally, unequivocally, anti-racist.
